Canada Border Information

Oh Canada. As we continue to recover from COVID-19 we have paid close attention to the Canadian government's border restrictions. Good news, the border is OPEN to vaccinated Americans! As of Fall 2021, all travelers to Canada must present documentation of full vaccination in order to avoid a quarantine. Please plan ahead by reading the country's information as you plan your travel. Finally do remember that you need a passport (or passport card if you're driving) to enter Canada from the US!

Getting to PEI

PEI is, well, up there. The easiest way to get to PEI for most on the east coast is driving. It's about a 12 hour drive from Boston, but has the benefit of hugging the beautiful coast of Maine and New Brunswick. A small airport in Charlottetown (YYG) serves major Canadian ports of call. So that is an option but may require multiple transfers (depending on where you're coming from, this may be a longer day than driving). The wedding and most events are about a 45 minute ride from downtown Charlottetown. Sadly, a rental car is a necessity to travel around. Alternatively, you can fly to Halifax, Nova Scotia, rent a car, and take the ferry across the Northumberland Strait — be on alert for the famed phantom ship, which has been said to be from truck to keel in flames yet no one knows her name...

House Or Rental

Cottages, airbnbs, etc.

PEI is a major destination for beach and golf vacations. There are a number of beautiful small and medium size cottages and homes for rent. Some are pretty spartan, others more furnished, but many have breathtaking access to the beach and the countryside. We have found that cottages are disappearing quickly, so we encourage creative use of AirBnB, VRBO, and other sites to find a dream vacation home for your stay!

Should you stay in Charlottetown??? Short answer: yes, maybe, but. The capital of PEI, Charlottetown is also the home of Confederation! A beautiful historic port, it is centrally located on PEI and has many great lodging, culinary, and tourism perks. It would be a great place to spend some time. The only downside is that it is a good 45 minutes from the wedding and most of our events; it will be a different pace than the country for sure. Jared (let's be honest, everyone else too) highly recommends the Gooey Mooey ice cream at COWS.
