We sat in the same 9th grade English Honors class for an entire semester until Gavin mustered up the courage to talk to me on the last day of school. He claims he didn't know I existed until then. Which very well could be true - he talked to everyone, I talked to no one.
The iconic first date: gingerbread houses, Cracker Barrel, and Christmas lights. With the company of Chloe's parents along the way. We were 15 with no licenses, what else can you do? Gavin, so scared of my dad that he didn't even look at a menu and just ordered the same as me, regardless of the fact that he didn't like it. My dad wouldn't let him pay for my dinner, so he bought me pop rocks instead (which I still have!)
After a night of Napoleon Dynamite and Mario Kart, Gavin asked me to be his girlfriend. Without a doubt, I said yes. My first and last boyfriend, and now my future husband.
Under the disguise of a picnic for discipleship, I was led to the reservoir where I found my sweet Gavin standing there looking just as nervous as he did when he walked into my house for the first time 4 years ago. It was everything I could've imagined and more.
