Beyond its storied past, Santa Marta is a sensory explosion defined by colorful music and a perpetually "eternal summer" climate (with the occasional downpour "aguacero"). The air is often filled with the accordion-heavy sounds of Vallenato or the rhythmic pulse of Cumbia, reflecting a culture that finds every reason to celebrate life. This joyful atmosphere extends directly to the table, where the local gastronomy highlights the best of the coast. You must must try the Cayeye (a traditional breakfast of mashed green bananas), fresh ceviche prepared with a Caribbean twist, and the iconic Arepa de Huevo. Whether you are enjoying a sunset dinner or relaxing at the beaches having a beer, we hope you agree that Santa Marta isn't just a destination—it’s a soulful experience that will stay with you long after our wedding celebration end. Thanks for being here and sharing these moments with us!

Essential "Samario" Phrases While many people in the tourism industry speak some English, a little Spanish goes a long way in showing respect. "¡Buenas!" – A universal, friendly greeting used at any time of day when entering a shop or greeting a neighbor. "Por favor.... " – Please. "Si|No señor" / "Si|No señora" – Yes sir / Yes ma'am or No sir / No ma'am. Samarios, and Colombians in general, do not simply answer "Si" or "No"; they qualify it out of respect to other people. "Gracias", or "Muchas gracias!" – "Thank you" or "Thank you very much". "¿Cuanto vale?" – "How much is this?" (Great for the local markets). "La cuenta, por favor." – "The check, please." "¡Qué bacano!" – Local slang for "That’s so cool!" or "That’s great!" "Una Cerveza, por favor." – "A beer, please." (Likely a Club Colombia or Águila).
