It all began in 2021 when a close friend of mine came to visit. During his stay, he invited me to join him in visiting a family friend of his who happened to live in the same city as me. He had already informed her of our visit, and she was excited to host us for lunch. Although I initially felt a little hesitant, my friend assured me that Chisom, his family friend, was warm and welcoming. That afternoon, when the doorbell rang, Chisom opened the door with a bright smile. She greeted my friend with a hug, then turned to me, offering a warm "Hello." I smiled back and exchanged pleasantries. She led us to her living room, where she had prepared a feast, including a deliciously spicy pepper soup. Impressed by her cooking, I mentioned it to my friend, who smiled and told me how, back in Nigeria, their families would often visit each other, and Chisom was known for her culinary skills. I called my friend, who gave me Chisom’s number so I could retrieve them. Busy schedules kept us from meeting for a while, but eventually, I collected my glasses. Some months later, during a conversation with a respected mentor of mine, she asked me when I was planning to settle down. I told her I was waiting for the right person. To my surprise, she offered to introduce me to someone she thought would be perfect for me. Her name was Chisom. Immediately, I recalled the Chisom I had met through my friend. When I shared my thoughts about her, I admitted that she seemed too busy for a relationship. My mentor promised to find out if Chisom was single and willing to meet. On the other side, Chisom had liked me too but hadn’t made a move, preferring things to unfold naturally. As time passed, we started talking more regularly, and soon after, we began dating. Our connection deepened, and on my birthday, I decided to take the next step. I asked her to marry me. With a radiant smile, she said yes.
