How We Met

December 2024

Grace has helped with her church’s Christmas production every year since she was five. Last year, she joined again at the last minute — expecting the usual hustle and holiday chaos. Chip, on the other hand, had never done it before. He saw the audition notice and decided to join on a whim. When Grace saw him at rehearsal, she couldn’t help but notice the cute new guy. They started talking, kept talking, and... well, the rest is history.

How Grace Knew

It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Chip. It amazes me everyday that I get the privilege to love him and be loved by him for the rest of my life. I knew on our first date that this one felt different. We were so like-minded yet vastly different. And... he gave me a BEAR figurine from Montana on our first date (I have a thing with bears). That night I went back to my parents house trying to cover the GIDDY smile on my face, but to no avail. The next day, we both woke up with the flu... bonding experience. I made him soup, he brought me a care-package and I realized he seriously cared for me. A few weeks later, and I knew I was in love with Chip. The way he listened, laughed with me, cared for me. I think the moment I realized I wanted to spend everyday of my life with Chip was a few weeks into dating when we went to Maryland for Valentine's Weekend. We sat in a seafood shack and he asked me if August was too soon to propose. I sat agog at him and said no, but all I was thinking was "August is so far away". I always hated the saying, but I guess it's true that "when you know, you know". Chip's love for the Lord is so evident in the way he serves and cares for those around him. I truly consider myself so blessed to get to marry a man with such a servant's heart. From caring for me when I'm sick, to helping my grandparents split and stack wood for a WEEK (while he was super sick), to splitting and stacking MORE wood for my parents, to helping countless friends move houses without ever asking for praise. Chip is kind, humble, gentle, patient, selfless, funny, and above all else, he is Christ-like.
