Answer

If flying into Nigeria, we recommend getting to Lagos no later than February 10th, if you are just attending the wedding events. If you'd like to explore Lagos, flying in by February 7th allows you to see most of Lagos and get that Naija Experience.

Question

Which Airline Should I Fly?

Answer

Lagos' Airport Code is LOS and the airport name is Murtala Muhammed International Airport. You can book British Airways through American for about $1300, Book Delta at about $1,500, Book Qatar at about $1,300, Air France / KLM at about $1,300

Question

Are the Hotel or Airbnb recommendations?

Answer

Yes. There are recommended hotels & Airbnb. (See the Travel & Accomodation Page ). Airbnb gets you more, and it is cheaper. I also prefer Airbnb because you are more likely to get good customer service from Airbnb than most of the hotels in Lagos. When searching for an Airbnb, search for Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Before booking, please ask the Airbnb Host the following questions: Is there 24 hr lights? If the host says No, DO NOT BOOK. If the host says there is generator, and or inverter then you should book. Ask how often the host sends someone to clean/ tidy up the place! The standard is every 2 to 3 days, but you can request for daily cleaning for an extra fee (Ask them for the cost in Naira).

Question

Do we need Vaccines?

Answer

Yes & No. While Nigeria doesn't require you to be vaccinated if you are flying from a non-African country, make sure your vaccines records are up to date. Bring Bug Spray, unless you want to be the Main Course Meal for Mosquitos daily.

Question

Should We Exchange Money from a U.S. Bank?

Answer

We recommend exchanging $100 or $200 for Naira notes before departing the U.S. This allows you to have something in hand for the first day or 2 in Nigeria. You will get a better exchange rates in Nigeria than you would at your bank. However, if you aren't comfortable with exchanging in Nigeria, then exchange all your currency at your local U.S. bank. (Don't Exchange at the Airports)!!!! Don't forget to get $1 bills at the bank to spray the new couple!

Question

How Much Should I bring?

Answer

About $500 should last you the whole week if you are on the conservative side.

Question

Is there Uber?

Answer

Yes. Nigeria offers Uber, Bolt & In-Drive. Most drivers prefer cash payments. In-Drive is preferred as it allows you to negotiate your rate. However Bolt & Uber, allows you to pay with your international cards. It is recommended that you let driver know the number of passengers on the ride. Be aware that a lot of Nigerian ride-shares cars are older and might not have the AC. Ask your driver before your driver arrives.
