Flight
✨ Fly into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)—about 25 minutes from downtown without parade traffic. Mardi Gras is a popular time to visit, so keep an eye on flights and book early if you can.
Travel Note
New Orleans has lots of great neighborhoods—each with its own unique history and personality. ✨ Garden District / Lower Garden District: Perfect if you want walkability to the parade route and easy access to shops and restaurants on Magazine Street. This neighborhood features gorgeous historic homes and offers a quieter, more residential feel. ✨ Mid-City: This is where we live! A laid-back, local neighborhood near City Park and Bayou St. John. Ideal for a quieter stay with easy access to green spaces and fantastic food spots. It’s about a 15-20 minute Uber ride to the parade route. ✨ Bywater & Marigny: For those seeking an artsy, eclectic vibe with cool bars, live music, and nightlife. These neighborhoods have a creative spirit but are a bit further out—expect a 20-25 minute trip to the parade route. ✨ French Quarter: The heart of the action, full of iconic sights, nightlife, and energy—but it can get very lively (and crowded!) during Mardi Gras. You can book a hotel, Airbnb, or Vrbo—just be sure to book early since Mardi Gras is a busy time and place fill up fast! If you're coordinating with friends, we recommend you share a spot for extra fun, easier planning, and a built-in krewe to parade with! ✨ Let us know if you need help picking a spot or navigating Mardi Gras magic!
Travel Note
✨ Ubers and Lyfts are available but may have delays or surges during parades, so be prepared to embrace the slower pace of parade season. Plus, New Orleans is super walkable so you can always grab a drink, go for a stroll, and soak up the Mardi Gras magic as you go.
