Five years ago, we became husband and wife in a small, intimate ceremony. While it was one of the happiest days of our lives, we’ve always dreamed of celebrating with all the people who couldn’t be there. Now, as we reach this special milestone, we’re excited to renew our vows and finally throw the celebration we’ve always envisioned. We can’t wait to celebrate the past, the present, and everything still to come—together with you.
On 10/10/20, we became Mr. and Mrs. Childers in a beautiful, intimate ceremony. With a small group of loved ones present, we exchanged vows and even shared a unity shot of tequila, making the day uniquely ours. It was a day filled with love, but our hearts ached for those who couldn’t be with us. Even so, it remains one of the best days of our lives, and we’ll always cherish the memories of becoming husband and wife.
Kyle and I decided to head down to Loveland, CO, for the Fire and Ice Festival, an event featuring fire sculptures, ice sculptures, and a fireworks show. It was a chilly night with record snowfall. I was frozen and ready to go home. But Kyle insisted on staying to watch the fireworks, convinced that the snow would make them even more beautiful. He was right. After the show, I turned to leave - only to find Kyle on one knee. Cue the screaming! He had a beautiful speech prepared (though I don’t remember much of it because it was all a blur). It’s been seven years since that moment, but it still feels like yesterday.
Kyle and I met on a Tuesday in May 2016 at the Ranger bar. Lexie’s version of the story: I was wearing an In-N-Out T-shirt (very typical Lexie) meeting a friend for a drink. I remember Kyle walking in goofy smile tripping over his giant shoes. He tried to sit down and talk to me but it was a girls night. He then proceeded to steal my friends chair which started the conversation. After a shot of tequila (or two), it was as no one else was in the bar. At the end of the night I expected him to ask for my number, he didn't. A few friends helped, gave me Kyle's number and I haven't stopped harassing him about not asking for my number. Kyle’s version of the story: Going to the Ranger after a late night shift was nothing new but something was in the air that spring night. It would have been hard to not spot Lexie, even if the place was packed, but with so few people, it was impossible. She was talking to some of my friends so I invited myself to the conversation. We spent the rest of the evening getting to know each other (ignoring everyone else) and had such a wonderful conversation that I forgot to even ask for her number. Luckily, my friends came through and convinced her to give me a call. She was the last person I talked to before bed that night and the first I talked to the next morning, something that hasn't changed in almost four years.
