What is Pelikani?

Answer

Pelikani in the local language of Chichewa means, “share it.” The tradition of Pelikani may be the most famous and fun stereotype of Malawian weddings. Different groups of family and friends shower the couple with cash. To participate in this cherished tradition be sure to have cash money dollar bills on hand!

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

All attendees of the wedding must RSVP and confirm attendance by October 1st, 2023.

Do you have a hotel block?

Answer

In order to ensure everyone can enjoy their time in the Windy City regardless of budget, we have not chosen a specific hotel for a room block. Instead we have provided a list of hotels at a discount. This link can be found under the 'Travel' tab.

Is there a dress code?

The dress code for this event is formal and sophisticated.

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Unfortunately, children are asked not to attend this event. Kids will not be accommodated at the wedding ceremony nor reception. It's advised that you make accommodations for your child (children) well in advanced to ensure your attendance.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking will be available at Chamberlain University across from the wedding event space.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The wedding will begin--on time--at 3pm Central Standard Time. It is advised that you find seating before the event begins at 2:45pm.
