The Niagara region of Ontario is definitely worth the trip to see. Starting off with Niagara Falls, with 11.9million litres of water falling every minute, it's a sight to see. Depending on what your interests are, you could spend the whole day in Niagara exploring Clifton Hill and all the shops along it. Or once you're done visiting the falls, you could head out to Niagara-on-the-lake to visit some of Canada's most beautiful wineries and distilleries. Biking wine tours can be a lot of fun and a great way to see everything the region has to offer.
Ottawa has a vibrant blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. Must-see sights include the iconic Parliament Hill, the stunning Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the National Gallery of Canada, home to impressive art collections. If you're up for a road trip out of Ontario, Quebec has some amazing places to see. Montreal should be your first stop once you get into Quebec. It's located just over 2 hours from Ottawa. Montreal has so much to see and explore, worth staying here for a day or two. After Montreal, you can take a 3 hour drive towards Old Quebec City. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, Old Québec is the most intact fortified city north of Mexico, retaining its colonial architecture for over 400 years. It is the historic and cultural heart of Québec City, and the birthplace of French North America.
If your in the mood to keep on driving after Quebec city, then the Maritime Provinces are your next stop. From Quebec city, it'll take 6 hours of driving to get to Fredericton, New Brunswick. Spend the night in Fredericton or keep on driving towards Hope Well Rock Provincial park, located 2 hours from Fredericton. Hope Well Rock Provincial park is one of the best places to view the incredible tide in the Bay of Fundy. The tides in the Bay of Fundy can rise an unbelievable 16 metres (52.5 ft.), with 160 billion tonnes of seawater gushing in and out of the bay twice a day. From there, you could take a drive south towards Halifax, Nova Scotia. Another vibrant city located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Halifax is worth staying for a couple days as you have so many sights to see in the area, from Lunenberg, NS to Peggy's cove lighthouse or take a whale watching excursion from the Halifax harbour. The largest mammal in the world, the Blue whale can be seen at these times of the year.
One of the most scenic driving routs in Canada is the Cabot Trail located on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. The entire drive your winding up and down along the Gulf of the Saint Lawrence offering stunning views everywhere you look. You can complete the entire drive in one day or if you're up for it, look at booking a cabin or campsite for the night to witness the breathtaking night sky.
