Things To Do In and Around Syracuse

Harvey's Garden

1200 East Water Street, Syracuse, NY 13210

A weekend favorite for the bride, groom, and their coworkers! Harvey's Garden is family-friendly, with lots of outdoor and indoor seating. Enjoy their innovate self-service taps and pay-as-you-go drink system and excellent Toss and Fire Pizza made onsite!

Salt City Market

484 South Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Salt City Market is a food hall and public market located in downtown Syracuse. In addition to selling local products, Salt City Market features food stalls from a diversity of cultures, including Ethiopian, Middle Eastern, Jamaican, Vietnamese, and Mexican.

Pastabilities

311 South Franklin Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Pastabilities was one of Syracuse's first restaurants to be featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Featuring incredible pasta and cozy vibes, Pastabilities is great place to spend an evening. As you explore the Armory Square and Franklin Street area, be sure to stop and see the shot clock monument, which honors Syracuse's contribution to basketball history.

Abbiocco by A Mano

344 South Warren Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Another favorite of the bride and groom to be, Abbiocco features a seasonal menu of homemade Italian food. "Abbiocco" is an Italian word that describes the feeling of fullness after a great meal and all we will say is that the place is well named!

Rosamond Gifford Zoo

1 Conservation Place, Syracuse, NY 13204

Syracuse's AZA accredited zoo, which places a high focus on conservation and preservation. We went here on our first real date! Be sure to stop and see our favorite residents: the penguins, the elephants, and the Komodo dragon!

Green Lakes State Park

7900 Green Lakes Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066

Green Lake is a meromictic lake, meaning it has no seasonal lake mixing. The well preserved layers at the bottom of the lake provide scientists with a detailed record of climate and environmental changes throughout its history. Green Lake gets its name (and color) from high levels of calcium carbonate reflecting green light. The park itself is a beautiful spot for easy hikes (that even the bride can handle), golfing, or swimming at the beach!

Museum of Science & Technology

500 South Franklin Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

As two science teachers, we couldn't not mention the MOST. The MOST is a family-friendly science museum featuring hands-on activities, a historical location, and an IMAX Theater. Located in Syracuse's Armory Square, the MOST is surrounded by restaurants and boutiques, and is close to Peace Garden, which is home to a piece of the Berlin Wall.

Syracuse Stage

820 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13210

Located directly in downtown Syracuse, Syracuse Stage is a professional theater company that has a robust yearly catalog of plays and musicals. Syracuse Stage works in conjunction with the Syracuse University Theater Department, but also offers opportunities for high school students with a passion for theatre.

The REV Theatre Company

282 North Street, Auburn, NY 13021

Located just south of the reception venue in Auburn, NY, the REV Theatre Company is a professional theatre company that presents a diverse array of plays and musicals throughout the year.

Sterling Renaissance Festival

15385 Farden Road, Sterling, NY 13156

Located north of Syracuse in Sterling, NY, the Renaissance Faire is a constant during the summer here in Syracuse. Featuring jousting, crafts, food, and live entertainment, the Sterling Renaissance Faire can truly be an all day event. Our advice, as experienced faire-goers, is to download your GPS directions ahead of time (the faire is located in a remote and heavily wooded area), wear comfortable shoes, and be sure to bring cash, as the ATMs can have long lines!
