I met Aubrey ten years ago during my second year of SALT at the Pentecostal Campgrounds. We met and became friends officially at a post SALT party when I got locked out of the dorms after a traumatic time being lost in Alexandria at 1am by myself at age 17. Aubrey offered to let me stay in his room of his family's trailer and he went and stayed in his church dorm. When we first met we went on a few dates and then sadly discerned through God that we needed to see other people and just be friends. We always kept a respectful distance after that and a healthy friendship full of boundaries. Then on June 7th 2020 I messaged Aubrey out of the blue telling him I was thinking about him and his family and that I hoped he was well with covid and all. I had no romantic intentions whatsoever. He had just genuinely been on my mind alot. We hadn't spoken in almost two years. Three days later he asked me out. We went out on our first date on June 11th. The rest was history. 10 years ago we thought the door to ever finding out what would happen if we dated was closed forever. Yet here we are ten years later… We're glad for where God took us both in that time period apart. But even more grateful that He allowed us to come back together once we grew and got to the places we needed to be. Now we go on adventures, hike, climb, kayak, loud sing to music in the the car and enjoy quiet time at home. We are really in to car camping right now. Aubrey proposed on January 9th on the way to the car to go on a hiking trip with eye drops to add the dramatic teary eye effect. God really knew what He was doing at the beginning of last year. Neither of us were looking for a relationship but here we are. God truly is the writer of the most beautiful love stories. Thankful for ours and excited to read the next chapter.…. With all that being said. We've decided to make the adventure of marriage an actual adventure by eloping. We are so excited to share this story with you all!
