Here are a couple of hotel options:
Yotel - This is for the budget conscious. 15 min walk to A'DAM (Venue). This is an affordable option (~$200/nt + taxes). The rooms are small (151 sq ft). While this is close to the venue, it may be a hassle for getting to the center of the city for exploring.
Aitana (Room Mate) Hotel - This hotel is pricier but still reasonable (~$270/nt + taxes). It is highly rated and the rooms are 240-350 sq ft. This location puts you in central Amsterdam. Everything you need to access is within walking distance.
airbnb - Airbnbs are pricey. However, if you need more than one bedroom they can become a more affordable option. We prefer the Jordaan neighborhood which is the mid-west area of the red section in the map pictured.

Overall, central Amsterdam is very walkable. If you would prefer to stay away from the center of the city, make sure you are within the serviceable area of the metro system.
