How We Met

Reign Cane!

We first met in our Writing for The Professions Class. We were in our senior year at TU and Covid-19 had just changed the world. We didn't speak during class and made our first connection on Bumble.

First Date

Come to Riverside with me!

I was there on a Wednesday, April 7th, 2021, wasting an evening doing nothing important! A sweet girl named Cheyanne and I had plans to grab coffee on Friday, but our eagerness got the better of us. We spontaneously had our first date chatting on Riverside over the Arkansas River in glow of the the neon Public Service Co of Tulsa sign. After talking the ears off the other, we laid the foundation for the rest of our lives playing on the slides, swings, and assorted jungle gym facilities. (Written by Clancy)

The Proposal

Wanna be pookies forever?

We were on our anniversary trip celebrating 4 years of our love. We typically go to St. Louis every May for a dear friend group. We lumped it together this year as a big celebration. Little to my knowledge, they were in on the proposal the whole time! Friday night, David and Kathleen bought us tickets to Show Me Burlesque, a burlesque event I have dreamed of attending but it never quite lined up with my May schedule. Clancy and I laughed, hooted, and hollered the night away. It was one of the funnest nights of my life. On Saturday, we explored Forest Park and went to Karaoke! And Sunday was the very special day! In the morning, I held hands with Clancy and looked into his eyes and asked "Is today a very special day?" and he replied "Every day is special when I'm with you. *wink*" And I got my answer! I felt so at ease wandering through the day. We ate lunch at the Swedish Cafe in IKEA and made our way to the St Louis Science Center. I am a HUGE museum nerd, always have been and always will be. I also work as a museum educator as my career! So I was bouncing with excitement as we journeyed there. To be so honest for a moment, I did not expect anything to happen at the Science Center. I was not even concerned or anticipating. The perfect moment hehe Clancy and I split off from the group to explore at our own pace. We played and explored the Pre-Historic and Mathematics exhibits. We made our way to join our friends for popcorn and dip'n'dots. They sheepishly smiled at me. I didn't think twice and shrugged. Clancy and I wander down this exhibit titled "Into the Vault" where collections of old things are organized into partitions. I was captivated. SO captivated, that I walked away in curious wandering the first time Clancy tried to get down on one knee. He caught me in the next room and held my hands saying "Can you do me a favor? Please stand still." I immediately knew what was happening! So in front of Robert Wadlow’s shoe, Clancy asked me to marry him. With tears streaming down our faces and giggles of joy, we waltz to the planetarium to catch their final show. What a magical day becoming fiancés at a place of curiosity, exploration, play, and community. (Written by Chey)
