How Lorne met Chetara (Lorne's version)

June 19, 2017

It all starts with OkCupid. It is a dating site, yes, but it is just a jumping off point to the story of how we met. I was on the site when I noticed her page. I needed to be witty to get her attention so I noticed that she said that others have laughed because she is a fan of Tom Lehrer's music. That was my in because I too love Tom Lehrer's music. We hit it off talking about the music. What was needed next was an initial meeting to hit things off. That day was going to be 7 days from that first conversation. We agreed to meet at Millenium Station (Chicago) since I was traveling into the city and Chetara already lived in the city. The next thing that happened was us meeting next to the divvy bikes and Chetara said she needed some gum from the drug store so she leads me to Walgreens and proceeds to get gum and then lead me to Burlington because she got something on her clothes before we got together for the day. I was shocked but in awe. I did not know what to do because she was like a tornado in the store. Picking up lots of stuff to try on. She proceeded to try stuff on and I stayed in the store. She picked something with my help :) We then checked out and got on with the date. We then headed to Panda Express, I was so nervous so I barely ate. After that, we walked around downtown (Chetara led the way). I started to open up and we had great hours of conversation before I got back on the train home, but before I left we made a plan for our second date.

How Chetara met Lorne (Chetara's Version)

The Truth

I had just ended a relationship, started a new job, and was in the process of finding a new apartment so suffice it to say I was not looking for anyone new. I was asked to be a moderator on OkCupid and agreed because, why the hell not? Lo and behold another Mod on there kept stalking me (lookin' at you Lorne). After several attempts to engage me in conversation via the app I finally caved and I agreed to go on one date with him. Fast forward to the date, I was late, covered in a green smoothie, and over the day. Thankfully he was not a serial killer (his profile pics were iffy at best), so we went to grab some gum and water, Burlington (I know you all didn't think I would be caught dead continuing a date in a smoothie covered dress?!), Panda Express, and then in true Lorne fashion walked all over the city of Chicago. I want you all to know that during this whole water, Panda, Burlington walk he said maybe twenty words to me. I swear I thought he was not interested. Well, that walk all over the city seemed to relax him and he never stopped talking! I learned more about him in that two-hour walk than I have anyone else I've dated. We finally ended up back at the Metra Station on Randolph and that was that. Two years later he's still stalking me via several apps, following me around the city, and has been accepted by my (now our) clowder of cats. I guess I'll keep him.

Proposal

January 7, 2018

We were on our way to do some stuff together and ended up going to a store that was similar to the one we were at on our first date. So, when we left the store and were at the car I pulled Chetara to the side, pulled out the ring box from my pocket, turned to her and asks her to marry me. She said yes and we go inside the car and start kissing and hugging. Chetara start to call everyone to let them know the details 😉💒💒💒 P.S. That is not how it happened Lorne! ~Chetara
