The beginning………. Upon arriving at Hardman Trail on a gorgeous Sunday evening, Cheryl noticed Steve jumping out of his Tacoma at the Chattahoochee River trailhead. Feeling inexplicably drawn to him thought, I want to meet that guy. Steve, being on a mission to finish his two miles before sunset, took off down the trail. Cheryl, held back by Bailee (her sweet little dog) told herself, I’ll catch him on the return trip. A few minutes later, meeting in the middle, we said “Hi” and a lifelong conversation began. We were amazed to find we had SO much in common (both from Illinois, both loved to hike and travel, both had the same bucket list). Since neither of us had our cell phones with us, Steve offered to put his card on Cheryl’s Tacoma (yes, we even have the same truck, even the same year!). On the card Steve wrote, “Let the stalking begin”. Since it was a Sunday and Steve works in Roswell Monday and Tuesday, we spoke again on Thursday. Thus began five months of hundreds of conversations, great meals and many miles together. Months later, on a beautiful bright morning hike, Steve dropped to his knee at the convergence of two streams becoming one and asked Cheryl to spend the rest of her life with him. Because of the complications of their season in life Cheryl said, “you know I’m going to have to think about this”. Since Steve had anticipated this response, he was not shaken. A vigorous conversation then ensued on a one mile loop hike back to the same convergence of streams. With the soothing sound of the water over the rocks in the streams, Cheryl stopped Steve in his tracks and said, “YES” with a big hug and kiss. Upon reflection…….the inexplicable energy that Cheryl felt seeing Steve for the first time turned out to be incredibly insightful. Over the years Cheryl has learned to trust her intuition and Steve is grateful that she did. One friend referred to our meeting as a “God wink”, another a “kiss from God”. As our cherished family and friends, we invite you into our story to share our love as God joins us together at the Historic Glen Ella Springs this June.
