Its about time I explain how Barry and I met; and theres no reason to not tell the truth. So here goes, Barry and I met on a particular website. Lets just say....small stubby toes are his thing! Ha ha ha just kidding. Barry and I actually started talking on Facebook dating. When I first saw Barrys profile, I was attracted to his sweet smile and that hint of red hair I saw. At the time, I was actually ready to give up on dating. Id already been through enough and had a mindset that I was going to be alone for the rest of my life. Our conversations started out slow. I believe this was in November 2023. We'd just chat back and forth from time to time. After a few conversations, I shared my Facebook messenger with you to continue our conversations on there. At one point, I gave him my phone number and he never texted or called. I thought maybe he wasnt interested. I found out later that he said he never saw my number in our chats. It was Christmas eve when Barry says to me "can I take you out on a proper date?", and I have to admit, this question floored me. I had never been on a proper date. Tuesday December 26th, he picks me up at my house in his big ol pickup truck, flowers in hand. He opened my door and off we went. He took me to a night restaurant in Midland Texas. We talked the whole way there, nervous as ever, the whole time we were at the restaurant and on the drive home. We got back home early so we decided to go have a few drinks. He was such a gentleman the whole time. I was so impressed. By the time the night was over, he took me back to my house and we sat in the truck talking; neither of us wanted the night to end. And then he kissed me! It was amazing. We didnt want to leave each other, and quite honestly from that moment on, we didnt! Fast foward to New Years Eve weekend, I was so excited about Barry. I just had to introduce him to the family to kinda get their opinions. We had lunch with my sister and the boys. My step sister and her wife met up with us at the house. They all instantly fell in love with Barrys outgoing personality. Barry did break a chair, on accident of course but from that moment on, the laughs and adventures have continued. From then, Barry and I have gone so many places, we've met so many new friends and our love has grown so much everyday. I remember telling my step sister, Fran, that I knew Barry was going to propose but I just didnt know when. But I had a vision of how I wanted it done. So I told Frances exactly how I wanted it to happen so that she could drop hints to Barry. Memorial day weekend! Its a weekend I'll never forget. I had no clue what was about to happen. Everyone around me knew though, and they all kept it a secret all day long. We floated the river for a few hours, went down and had a few more drinks while just sitting in the river. Such a great time! Then we went home, Barry took a short nap while the rest of us got ready. Barry wakes up and says "I need to go see a friend", which I thought was kind of odd but didnt really question it. We had plans to go see Cory Morrow at Gruene Hall. So me, Barry, Frances and Amanda go down to Gruene Hall, and the concert is amazing! The whole time Barry was standing in front of me and wouldnt let me get in front; he did this on purpose. Towards the end of the show, Cory Morrow says "Ladies and Gentleman, my friend Barry Beard has something he wants to ask his friend". Barry turned around, got down on one knee and it was at the moment that the world stopped. I couldnt hear him at first cause it was so loud in there, but I said "YES!" And that is how our adventures began.
