Cherry found Zigi at the Downey Animal Shelter. Because Zigi had less than a week left until his next evaluation date, she got him "on clearance".

Russell found Cherry on OKCupid. He sent Cherry a message and asked her to meet up in person. Cherry and Russell met at The Grove and had their first meal together. They bonded over not being able to get into Berghain (most famous and exclusive techno club in Berlin). Cherry found out the statue of David she saw in Florence was not the real deal (turns out her travel partner, Serena, knew this whole time). Zigi met Russell at Cherry's apartment before they all went hiking together at Runyon Canyon. Russell scored some major points with Zigi when he volunteered to carry Zigi for half of the hike. Cherry took a chance and went on a trip with Russell to Mexico just three months after they met. Cherry was glad that Russell turned out to be a normal dude. Cherry and Zigi moved in with Russell because Russell promised to cook lobster every Valentine's Day. Since then, Cherry and Russell went on many adventures and had many more meals together in Catalina, Seattle, Houston, San Francisco, Jamaica, Oahu, Paris, Nice, Venice, Portofino, London then back to Mexico again. One Friday night in June 2017, Russell proposed to Cherry in their Burbank condo as she was preparing dinner for Zigi... Cherry said "Yes". Zigi was very excited because he gets to be the ring bearer at his humans' upcoming wedding. ... and they all live happily ever after...
