Our Adventure

We met on the coast of South Carolina and it was love from the start. Scott had to go back to Japan and I was on my way to Alaska to continue my travels. It was a little rocky at first, but we continued to communicate and work around each others schedules, talking whenever we got the chance. Scott wanted me to move back to Texas so that when he came home for the holidays, I would be there waiting for him.

We decided to elope in early January while Scott was home from Japan. Doing this makes the transition of when he gets stationed back in the states much easier for us both. Our decision to not be public with this information was made because we knew rumors would fly, gossip would come, and we weren’t ready for it. We love each other very much, and what’s the point in waiting if we both know for sure that we belong together? It was a quick decision that we both prayed on before we carried it out, and we are so happy we chose this road to take. The elopement was small (just us, the preacher, and the secretary!) and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We were married for exactly 49 hours (2 days) before Scott got on the plane heading back for Japan. This summer we will be hosting a Celebration of Union. It will be conducted just like a wedding ceremony. There will be a reception bringing our families and friends together. We are planning for this celebration to be the official announcement of the beginning of our lives together. With Love, The Bussells
