We're Getting Married

Believe it or not, we actually went to high school together but never spoke! I was friends with his brother and sister, but somehow he and I never crossed paths. Fast forward a few years, and we reconnected through a mutual friend who was close with his family. I used to tell her all the time how handsome I thought he was (and the fact that he could dance to Haitian music was even better 😉). One night, our mutual friend invited me to hang out, and I said yes — especially because I knew he’d be there. That was the first night we danced together. From then on, we kept in touch on Snapchat before deciding to meet up at a Haitian lounge. We had the best time on the dance floor that night… a time was had. The moment that sealed it for me, though, was later that evening. We were outside his parents’ house, and I told him I was going to take off my wig — and then I actually did. Instead of judging me, he just accepted me as I was, and that’s the night we exchanged numbers. From then on, everything felt real. From that day forward, our story has been filled with laughter, love, trips, kids, and a whole lot of dancing. We’ve grown together, built memories, and created a bond that feels unshakable. Then came the proposal : a night I’ll never forget. I had planned a last-minute surprise dinner for him at our house, with food I cooked myself and decorations set up with the help of his sister. Hosting had me stressed, so I wasn’t thinking about looking my best I was in my Crocs, my nails needed a refill, and my makeup was hanging on for dear life. The last thing on my mind was a proposal. After dinner, my sister pulled me up to dance, and while I was distracted, he got down on one knee. The whole room filled with love and joy as he asked me to marry him. I cried like a baby in disbelief and of course, said yes! Now, we’re so excited to begin this next chapter as husband and wife, surrounded by the same love and laughter that brought us here.
