He asked me out for almost six months before I finally agreed to go on our first date the day after my birthday. I thought it would just be a date to get him out of my hair. That night I knew that I had found in him something my heart had been looking for for more than a decade, a man I was pretty sure no longer existed... Fast forward to the 4th of July 2020, an important date in American history and an important date to Dillon as a man who loves his country, he finally asked me to go on one of his fishing trips...and to watch fireworks from the boat. Unfortunately, due to circumstances of the current year, the planned night watching fireworks from the boat in Brewster, Washington, was not to be... We weighed the options for staying put that night and making the most of what the little town of Bridgeport had to offer or gunning it down to Chelan for their famous show. There was some waffling and finally the decision was made. Showers first (cos camping and boating and fishing), then out for dinner and a short trek to some very crowded streets (cos the only firework show in five counties) of Chelan and we wiggled into one of the last parking spots on Wapato Way just in time for the show to start. Within a few minutes of the show, we have moved our seats to a more "private" location opposite side of the road, and then for some reason, we also needed to stand.... (hahahaha...smooth move) Under the light of the fireworks on the 4th of July as well as the Full Buck (think deer) Moon, Dillon dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. Truth be told, I said "yes"...then I swore and said yes again. He told me he loved me and I confirmed my love for him in return. Bonus fact: Dillon completely surprised me with the ring and he surprised himself when it was a perfect fit! and so the story goes... #notakebacksies
