The lakefront trail is a special place for us. We met during our group training for the 2023 Chicago marathon. We would meet down at Montrose Beach at 6:30 am every Saturday for group runs. Kim noticed Chelsie during our second training run of the season and thought she was so cute. Chelsie was running solo the next week and Kim ran up next to her. We spent the next 5 miles talking. By the time we reached the top of Cricket Hill at the end of our run, we were both smitten. The rest is history :) Who knew committing to run 26.2 miles would also bring love into our lives!
This is our FAVORITE ice cream place. They are completely vegan and gluten-free. Their rotating menu features some incredible flavorful combinations. It's one of our go-to date places and Naomi highly recommends getting extra rainbow sprinkles on everything. It is located in Lincoln Square. Vacas is surrounded by an assortment of cute cafes, and novelty shops. It is a great neighborhood to grab a scoop of ice cream and go for a walk to see the beautiful unique homes.
This is one of Kim's favorite hangout places. When Kim and Nic lived together, they regularly hung out here. Kim introduced this brewery to Chelsie and we have gone here a few times. It's a hidden gem in a industrial part of the southwest side. There are great drink options, both alcoholic and NA. We definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a chill place to hang out.
No matter the season, Garfield Park Conservatory has activities inside and outside for kids and adults! It's one of Chelsie's favorite places to visit in the city. With clear paths throughout that take you to outdoor gardens, the palm house, the Fern room, the Desert House, the Aroid house, the always-changing Show house, the Horticulture Hall, and a children's garden. During this past summer, Naomi dressed up like a fairy and loved exploring with us. We pretended to be airplanes as we ran up and down the path of the outside Labrinth. With a 10$ admittance fee per person, you could spend a few hours exploring. Keep an eye out for a few turtles that like to make appearances from under the mini waterfalls as well.
This Beautiful Donation-only museum is located in the stunning neighborhood of Pilsen in the city. It's Chelsies Favorite museum because even before you enter the doors you are surrounded by Hispanic murals and art on buildings in every direction you turn in this culturally rich Neighborhood. Once you enter you will feel vast amounts of warmth, color, and soul from all of the talented artists. Chelsie took Kim here over the winter season and they walked around admiring every piece of art together. We are so lucky to live in a world full of so many beautiful cultures to learn about.
