Jon was giving subtle hints for a week leading up to the proposal. From taking a Saturday off during a tedious house project, to showing up to Chelsie’s house wearing the same outfit he wore on our first date, then getting brunch at our first date spot Pitch, and walking up to Memorial park with a mixtape of our favorite songs blasting on his phone, Jon was laying the romance on thick. We reached the patch of grass in front of the memorial where we had shared many a Dairy Queen blizzard, and that’s when Jon’s nerves finally caught up with him. We had been waiting to say those three special words until the right moment, and Jon took that opportunity then and there. He turned and asked “Have I ever told you how much I like you? As a matter of fact, I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He knelt and asked “Will you marry me?” to which Chelsie gave a resounding “YES!” As we basked in the moment, the sun came out and the church bells starting ringing as if we were on set of a cheesy Rom-Com. Then we celebrated with Coneflower ice cream and a surprise engagement party with close friends and family. We thank God for blessing this beautiful relationship.
