We met back in June 2015 when we both worked at Hilton in Greenville. Austin was a front desk supervisor and I had just been hired in the restaurant. Austin "claims" that he knew he wanted to take me out the first time he met me .... and called "dibs" on me to the other front desk agent Instantly we became great friends. We clicked. We bonded over our love for Duke basketball, our love of the water, and our love for our nanas. During our annual Christmas party, we realized there was something more between us than friendship. That was all she wrote.
A week before Austin proposed, I got a text from a good friend and co-worker (Tasha) asking to get St. Patty's Day drinks on Sunday. Austin and I were going to be going on our annual anniversary trip to Curacao the day after and despite having so much to do before we left, I said I would. On Saturday, Tasha was EXTRA excited about grabbing drinks the next day which I didn't think much about since she used to live in Ireland and loves St. Patty's Day. Fast forward to Sunday. I was exhausted from a busy night of work on Sunday morning. I was supposed to meet Tasha at 11am but I was so tired I asked her for 30 more minutes of sleep. She reluctantly said "okay, but hurry, I am already at Hilton." Once I arrived, Tasha asked if I would help her move a banquet table "real quick" and then we could go. As we are walking to our banquet area, I am rambling about how my Saturday night was and was completely oblivious to the music playing in the ballrooms. Right before we got to the door, Tasha stopped me and said "CHELSIE, you know I love you right?!" My response, "I love you too wierdo." As she opened the door, there was 8,000 rose petals and candles spelling out "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" and Austin was standing in a circle of rose petals. He had our song "Free Fallin" playing in the back ground. He had to walk over to me and bring me into the circle because I lost all function of my legs and couldn't move. I will be honest and say that my mind had a million things going on inside and my emotions were sky high so the only thing besides will you marry me that I heard or remember was when he said "I wanted to take you back to where it all began..." After I said "YESS" we danced in the circle of roses until our song went off.
