I remember seeing her on the dating app as I sat there procrastinating at work. She wore a blue dress and had a smile that could light up a room. And an eye doctor? Jackie and Bill would freak. For whatever reason, she swiped back. And it didn’t take more than a message or two before I realized this girl was different. She’d text me back with some witty little message and I’d have to sit there counting the seconds to respond because, as everyone knows, you don’t want to come across as too eager. Yeah, right. Fast forward 24 hours and we were sitting across from each other on our first date at a local bar called Intermezzo. She was even more beautiful in person. And it turned out her witty text banter translated to full-blown charm in real life. She was smart, funny, gorgeous, successful, and for some reason, she was on a date with a schmuck like me. I remember her telling me she was on rotation for her Optometry degree and would only be in St Pete for three months, and then would be moving back to South Florida. I thought to myself – I gotta play it cool. Can't have her sensing any desperation. “Yeah, that’s cool. I have family in Fort Lauderdale so I could totally move back down there.” Shiiiiit. NOT COOL. Dorky as hell? Absolutely. But here we were just two hours into this date, and already I knew I was willing to go anywhere to be with her. Now, just a few short years and countless dorky moments later, we’re sharing our vows and promising to always go with each other. And we want you there to celebrate with us.
