We met in Atlanta, both of us were competing in SkillsUSA for Savannah Tech. I thought he was arrogant, and he thought I was married, so we didn’t speak to each other much at first! We hung out at a bar after competitions and hit it off well, exchanged numbers, and started dating shortly after.

We were having a “celebration” date night after purchasing our home. We ate at a nice restaurant, enjoyed some ice cream, and went for a walk on the beach. When we were coming down the boardwalk, I noticed a crowd of people standing around a candle-lit set up in the sand, and he said “let’s go check it out”, and I said “no I think someone’s about to propose” and I started walking the other way. Then he said “look they’re all leaving” so then we walked over to check it out. I could barely see in the dark and when I was trying to read what was written in the sand I heard someone behind me (Kendrick & Nani). I turned around to see Khalil on one knee. A pleasant surprise :)
