Legend has..it was a dark and snowy night in the winter of 2010 as Chelsey was finishing her happy hour shift at luxury cocktail bar Plug Uglies, when tall drink o' water (Kevin) strolled in with his squad. Chelsey noticed him right away because if you've ever worked behind a bar as refined as Plugs you really appreciate when someone is, well, nice. And if you know Kevin, you know he is just SO DAMN NICE!! Like, THE NICEST. Also, tall and very very talkative. A couple hours later as Chelsey was enjoying an after shift beverage, she locked eyes with Kevin and gave him a little wave. Throughout the rest of the night Kevin repeatedly walked over to Chels with classic lines such as "You call this a storm??" and "There's barely any accumulation!" Well, it worked and a few short weeks later ChelzBelz became official. After 10 years of music, yoga, softball and motorcycle trips with Milo strapped in for the ride, Kev is still super nice, tall and very very talkative and Chels still enjoys a fine beverage. The rest they say, is history baba!!
Every summer for the last 10 years Kev, Chels and Milo along with a bunch of other wonderful peeps traveling from around the east coast make their annual pilgrimage to a magical place called Squam Lake in New Hampshire. (Shout out to future bro in law Chris for bringing us in to the Squam fam!) Chels grew up in the NH so they always make a pit stop in fabulous "Manchvegas" to visit with Chelsey's folks, eat all their food, and admire the fact that their outdoor space is not just a fire escape. Vacations at Squam Lake involve swimming all day, sun bathing, hammock reading, making huge sandwiches, family dinners and more! After dinner we typically retreat to the living room for a nightly jam session. Many of the squamers are musicians and artists and as most of you know Chels is a trained vocalist and songwriter so having a built in band on vacation is a little bit of heaven. After playing a couple songs on this one particularly lovely night, Kev turned to Chels and said "Hey babe, I think you should sing 'All I Want Is You' by U2." To which Chels responded "Mmmm I don't know, It's not really in my key." To which Kev responded "I REALLY THINK YOU SHOULD SING IT." So the Squammers started to play (turns out they were in on it!) and Chels started to sing. As Chels was singing Kev put down his guitar, turned and proposed to Chels with his grandmother's ring. (Awwwwwww!) To which Chels responded "Wait what?? What the hell is going on?! She eventually came to and said YES! And that's the story of how Kev tricked Chels into singing her own engagement song....And it was perfect.
