Chelsea and Lawrence’s paths first crossed in an apartment building where they were both living in Seattle’s Central District in 2017. Truthfully, their initial union was less about themselves and more about their dogs, Finn and Maurice. At the time, Finn was a spritely young lad with endless energy. He met his first true match in Maurice – the first time they met, they chased each other around and wrestled until they both passed out. Lawrence quickly caught onto the fact that Finn hanging out with Maurice meant he got to hang out with Chelsea, so he deliberately started lurking around the apartment common areas before Chelsea’s nursing shifts, hoping for a chance encounter. Over the coming weeks, numbers were exchanged – purely for ‘logistical’ dog-watching purposes of course – but Lawrence eventually mustered up the courage to ask Chelsea out. She said no. Fortunately, Chelsea was still keen on hanging out – after all, the dogs got along so well, and it seemed unfair that they should have to suffer just because their human beings had decided not to date each other. So the trips together to the dog park continued, and then one day, enough was enough – the tables had turned – and Chelsea asked Lawrence out. Much as he would have liked to play it cool, Lawrence had said yes before the words were out of her mouth. The rest was history – Chelsea and Lawrence moved out of the shabby apartment and into a house together, the dogs still get along (most of the time), and so do Chelsea and Lawrence.
