Her version: We met in the summer of 2012 at Mizzou at a sorority date party. Zach went with one of my sorority friends, just as friend! After that we started hanging out over the summer. I met some of his family over 4th of July and of course wanted a relationship. Zach still wanted to keep it casual. We saw each other sporadically but we were never official. Then one day it all changed! His version: Everything Chels said about the date party and the summer is right. She wanted to lock me down as soon as she saw me ;) but I didn't want a relationship with anybody at the time (and kept telling her that but she never listened). Eventually, after a lot of wasted time, I came to my senses and realized I didn't want anyone else but her. A couple decades later, I proposed to her and then we moved out to Arizona together!
We were at our home in St. Louis celebrating our Christmas before we were around family and traveling for the holidays. We had opened our presents, had pizza and wine and were relaxing on the couch. Then Z walked up to me and handed me an envelope and said, "Now for the most special present of all". Inside was a poem he had written for me. I of course was anxious to figure out what the poem was for, so I was skimming it. He knows me so well and put the question on the back of the paper so I couldn't read it. "...The spice in my life / What I'm asking is will you be my wife?" He was then down on one knee! It was perfect in every way!
