Question

Will there be transportation to and from the venue?

Answer

Yes! For those who RSVP there will be shuttles. There will be a shuttle to the venue that departs promptly at 2pm from the Emery hotel downtown for those who sign up (please make sure to arrive at one of these hotels if you signed for the shuttle). Pickup will be on south 4th street. It will drop you off at the venue at 3pm with two return trips that night. Please join us from 3-4pm for Kabbalat Panim, cocktails and appetizers. The Bedekken will be at 3:30 and Ceremony at 4:00 followed by the dinner and dancing at the same venue.

Question

What is a B'deken? What is a Ketubah?

Answer

If you are unfamiliar with Jewish weddings, expect to hear some new words! Here are some definitions to get you started (but there will be a guide as well at our ceremony): Aufruf: Ceremony in which the groom (and bride) are honored with an aliyah on the Shabbat before the wedding. B'deken: Veiling of bride before the wedding ceremony Chatan: Hebrew word for groom Chuppah: Wedding canopy Kallah: Hebrew word for bride Ketubah: Marriage contract Kabbalat Panim: Before the wedding, the chattan and kallah greet their guests separately Tish: Yiddish for table, the light-hearted discussion held before the wedding ceremony in the groom's chambers Sheva Brachot: Seven marriage blessings recited under the chuppah

Question

Will the food be kosher? Can you accommodate other dietary restrictions?

Answer

While the food prepared at our wedding reception is kosher and dairy free, the kitchen is not so if you require fully kosher food, please select the "glatt kosher" option which is a meal provided from a local kosher caterer. If you are joining us for Shabbat kiddush you can expect fully kosher food. Our welcome party is being held at a local restaurant so food will be dairy/fish as will the food at the shabbat dinner in our home. We are happy to provide dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian options! Just let us know when you RSVP for each event.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend staying in downtown Minneapolis, at either one of our Hotel blocks or in the surrounding area so that you can walk to one of the shuttle stops. If you plan on joining for Shabbat festivities and plan to walk, we recommend staying in Uptown, MN which is where our house, the Chabad house, and our welcome party is located.

Question

Can we bring our children?

Answer

You are welcome to bring your little ones if you would like, however please know that our reception has not been planned with young children in mind. Please let us know if you would like to request a kid's meal.
