We met through mutual friends in 2019. Ryan later kissed me on St. Patrick’s weekend JUST before COVID-19 shut the world down.
We had our first date in May 2020 at Ryan’s apartment, while the rest of the world was shut down because of COVID. He impressed me with wine and a steak dinner that he cooked. Then he surprised me with his purchase of my favorite movie, Pretty Woman.
Ryan proposed to me during my 30th birthday celebration in front of all our friends on May 6, 2023. I decided to have a 1920s themed party to celebrate (& mourn) the "prohibition" of my 20s and youth. He just knew how to kick my 30s off with a bang and it couldn't have been a more perfect way to enter the next decade of my life! :)
What started as a joke before we were even engaged, turned out to be something we really wanted. Weddings come with a lot of expectations from couples and sometimes those expectations become more about the guests instead of the couple. We didn't want to have a traditional wedding where we spent majority of the time greeting & entertaining guests instead of spending that time with each other. At the end of the day we just want something that's intimate and only about us. Marrying each other this way is so special and meaningful to us.
