yes and no - for obvious reasons we decided to postpone and then cancel. we got married at a small ceremony last august, as planned. we decided to skip the big wedding and hope to celebrate with each of you someday soon!
islandwood is a 255-acre outdoor learning center and non-profit organization that inspires lifelong environmental and community stewardship. we’ll have exclusive use of the whole campus during our weekend—from cabins and treehouses, to forest trails, a suspension bridge, a tower to climb, and more—plus coordinated activities. learn more at https://islandwood.org/
please let us know if you'll be celebrating with us by may 1, 2021. use the rsvp tab to make it happen.
when you rsvp, the system will tell you who's included. if the rsvp page for the "we do" says "GUEST" then yes! and let us know who it is you'll bring. if not, we would prefer if it was just you.
kiddos are welcome and islandwood is a family friendly place. we likely will workout some sort of child-care for folks with kiddos so you can enjoy the festivities too. check back soon for more details!
you certainly don't need to stay at islandwood, but boy do we recommend it! if you plan to stay on campus, mike and chelsea are responsible for assigning specific rooms and lodges. please let us know if there are specific people you want to bunk with or if you'd really like your own room - we will do our very BEST to accommodate. you can do this when you rsvp. *when* we have more information about rooming preferences, we'll share the link where you can reserve your room. more information to come soon! keep in mind, sharing rooms drops the cost for everyone significantly but there is room for everyone! FYI: islandwood has four northwest-style lodges with a combination of single occupancy, double occupancy and bunk rooms that can accommodate up to 6 guests. all guest rooms have a private bathroom. each lodge contains a spacious log-beam great room with a stone fireplace and cozy seating areas, laundry facilitates, and a small refrigerator.
great question and unfortunately its a little complicated. we did our best to simplify: all costs include room and board, continental breakfast each morning you stay on site. a two night booking also includes the cost of saturday lunch. most rooms can accommodate up to six guests - the more people you share a room with, the more economical it is. see breakdown below. note: one night stays are also an option - just think half the price! Two guests, two nights - $507.95 ($253.97 per person) Three guests, two nights - $600.74 ($200.25 per person) Four guests, two nights - $693.53 ($173.38 per person) Five guests, two nights - $786.32 ($157.26 per person) Six guest, two nights - $879.11 (146.52 per person) kids cost less and children under 3 are free. brainstorm with your pals and let us know ASAP in your RSVP if you have preferences. we want to do our very best to accommodate everyone's wishes.
take a peek at our travel page for details! but here's a hint: you get to take a ferry.
it'll be august in seattle, so... it shouldn't rain - but you never know! bring clothes for the welcome party (anything goes) and wedding (think cocktail attire), active clothes so you can enjoy the grounds, and a rain coat, just in case. islandwood will provide toiletries for the cabins and food will be provided throughout the weekend. if you want to bring some gear, we recommend flashlights or headlamps for any late night exploring and highly encourage reusable water bottles (and coffee mugs if you are really feeling it).
both! weather depending, we'll have the ceremony outside, but dinner and reception will be inside. any extra time can be spent outside enjoying what islandwood and the pnw has to offer.
islandwood chefs are very experienced in catering to a number of dietary restrictions. let us know your preferences in your rsvp so we can be sure to communicate your needs to the venue.
technically islandwood is a non-smoking campus due to legalities of affiliation with the public school system. there will be two designated smoking areas, one near the welcome center arrival path and one in the parking lot. otherwise, no vaping or smoking is allowed on campus. please just be sure not to leave any butts around that children could find (we will also incur a penalty should this happen!).
