We matched on Hinge, bonded instantly over the fact that we both owned tricolor dogs, and somehow agreed to meet in person. Chelsea briefly assumed Katarina had a doctor kink 🙃 — Katarina would like it known, on the record, that she actually loves Chelsea in spite of the fact that she’s a doctor. On our first date, we stayed out talking until 4am — objectively insane if you know either of us. Katarina told her friend, “I met my wife.” Chelsea went home and told her dogs, “I met your human.” Three weeks later, Chelsea introduced Katarina to her mom and Kevin 🍸. They all drank espresso martinis and immediately fell asleep on the couch. Katarina fit in perfectly. We spent a fabulous winter and spring bouncing between NJ and NYC. Katarina “taught” Chelsea how to cook (results questionable) and do chores (a little better, but still under supervision 🧽). Then Katarina moved back to Slovenia to finish her PhD, which kicked off our international love story chaos: Vienna for Pride in June 🏳️🌈, Lake Garda in July 🇮🇹, and Slovenia in August 🇸🇮—where Chelsea met Katarina’s family and fell in love with all of them. They even curated a customized tour of Slovenian wine spritzers and Slovenian foods Chelsea would actually eat. Miracles everywhere. We got engaged in London in September 💍🇬🇧. Chelsea accidentally ruined the original surprise… so she did what any rational person would do: she contacted basically everyone invited to the wedding to make a surprise video for Katarina 🎥✨. It worked—Katarina cried for 17 straight minutes and SHE SAID YES. And now? We can’t wait to build our life together (physically together soon, hopefully!) between both of our homes, surrounded by the people — and dogs 🐶🐶 🐶 — we love most. And most importantly: we cannot wait to celebrate our crazy life with all of you at our wedding 🇸🇮🇺🇸🏳️🌈.
