NYC Airports

NYC has three different airports, Newark (NJ) is 17 miles from the wedding venue, LaGuardia (Queens) is 10 miles from the wedding venue, and JFK (Queens) is 11 miles from the wedding venue. We recommend LaGuardia. We also recommend you google "(airline name) discount codes" when booking your flights and you may be able to find a current discount code to help save on your flight.

Booking your Flights

The sooner you book your flights the better! Prices will go up and our wedding is the same weekend as Labor Day weekend (sorry!) so there will be an influx of prices due to increased travel. We have usually found anything less than 3 months in advance will be the the most epensive. We recommend going to "Google Flights" or "Skyscanner" and turning on "price notifications." Or googling the airline you will be using + coupon, for example "westjet coupons" and seeing if there are any current deals or coupons to save yourself some money. Also if you are current or retired military, check your airline as most have military discounts or free baggage!

Porter

Porter regularly has discounts of around 20-25% off, we recommend signing up for their emails to catch when these discounts become available. Porter also gives free wine and beer on their flights so it's one of our favorites! If traveling with porter and using a connecting flight, connecting through Toronto Billy Bishop airport is very easy.

Getting Around

We highly recommend downloading the apps Uber and Lyft, they will give much better prices than local taxis. If you feel brave enough you can try using the NY bus and subway system. We have linked below the MTA (NY Metro) website for any info you need. Google Maps will also direct you if you wish to take the subway with what train to take and in what direction as well as how many stops to ride the train.

MTA

Many trains stop near the wedding venue. They are the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, D, F, G, R, N, & Q trains. If taking the train be sure to check any service interruptions on the MTA app or website and plan extra time to arrive early in case of any delayed/interrupted trains as they are not always on time or it is very easy to get lost or the wrong train if you are unfamiliar with the NYC subways.

Hotels & Airbnbs

We highly recommend booking your hotel or Airbnb as early as possible as hotel prices tend to only go up the closer to the date you get and our wedding weekend also happens to be Labor Day weekend (sorry!). As for Airbnbs, New York recently passed a law in NYC that states owners of Airbnbs must be present in the Airbnb with the renters, so unless you enjoy staying with strangers, we recommend booking a hotel. Sites like Expedia and Booking.com are good options for deals on hotels as well! Below we have directly linked the closest hotels to the wedding venue (hotels are listed by proximity) which are the best options if you are from away and don't want to navigate NY traffic or subways on the day of the wedding. We recommend checking the "deals/offers" or "packages" sections of these websites as sometimes they will have deals like "Advance Purchase" or "Park & Stay" which can sometimes give you good options for parking, breakfast, or extra savings. Also if you are a Canadian military member the US offers great military rates on hotels and extends them to Canadians.
