During the summer of 2008, while getting help with a summer project from The Grooms "Best Man", Chelsea and Jared were introduced. The couple maintained a platonic friendship until the summer of 2017 when they decided to "test the waters".

While celebrating his birthday on May 4, 2020, Jared looked over to Chelsea and decided she was who he wanted to share the rest of his birthdays with. That night he began to plan "The Proposal". This manifested on Chelsea's birthday, October 4, 2020, with a surprise birthday party surrounded by family and friends that ended with Jared on a bended knee asking Chelsea to spend the rest of her life with him.
