It was with heavy hearts that we decided to postpone our wedding celebration until August, when hopefully all guests could safely attend. We had a small ceremony on March 20th, 2020 with immediate family before COVID could impede our vows further. We were heartbroken that you all could not attend, but we appreciated all the love we received. For our vow renewal on August 29th, we are working with all our vendors and venue owners to create the safest environment that we can for our guests. This includes social distancing with extra ceremony seating to space out groups and dining tables arranged comfortably throughout the entire 10,000 sq/ft venue. All food and beverage will be served by a staff member on disposable serveware with no self-service option and kept at a safe distance with display barriers. Face masks will be available to all guests and hand sanitizer will be readily available. The Rutherford is committed to regular cleaning of high traffic areas throughout the entire event. Guests will be asked to sign a consent waiver before entering the event. We appreciate your love and support whether or not you decide to attend. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us at vowingvalainis@gmail.com! Much love, Greg and Chelsea
Greg and Chelsea met in the summer of 2015, on a night out with their roommates, who happened to know each other from Clemson. It didn't take long before Chelsea and Greg were talking, immediately hitting it off and sharing a few drinks. Now Greg and his roommates, Scott and Chas, all lived walking distance from McPherson Park, which happened to have a public putt putt course. It was pretty much a weekend ritual that they all went to play a round of midnight putt putt, and Scott insisted that Chelsea come play with them. The group might not have actually played putt putt that night, but Greg and Chelsea did exchange phone numbers... After a few days of not hearing from Greg, Chelsea decided to friend him on Facebook, and thus reinforce the fact that she was interested in seeing him again. That was all it took for Greg to reach out to Chelsea and ask her on a date to Brew in the Zoo. He happened to have already bought the tickets before asking Chelsea if she wanted to go, but he had a pretty good feeling about her saying yes. That first date was the beginning of four and a half years together...
Chelsea thought they were just going to dinner, but Greg had other plans. Using Mary and David (Chelsea's mom and step-dad) as a ruse to make dinner plans at Passerelle Bistro, Greg brought Chelsea to Fall's Park for their "reservations". Because David was supposedly finishing up a conference call at work, Greg suggested they take a walk through the gardens for a minute. Chelsea quickly realized something was off, as Greg tried to make conversation but was grasping for a topic. They began to walk towards Mary's Cottage to a secluded overlook, when suddenly Greg grabbed Chelsea's hands, muttered something that was certainly beautiful, but neither remember, and dropped to his knee. Tears quickly filled Chelsea's eyes as Greg told her that he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life by her side. She found a way to say "yes" and Greg put the most perfect engagement ring on her finger. The two were photographed by Chelsea's roommate, Anne Marie, who Greg had asked to hide out and capture the moment. After wiping their tears and collecting themselves, Chelsea and Greg headed off for one more surprise; since obviously they weren't going to dinner at Passerelle. Greg told Chelsea they were just meeting their parents at the Condrey office rooftop for drinks, but much to Chelsea's surprise, all their friends and family were upstairs waiting for them! They celebrated that night on the most perfect September evening, drinking upside-down margaritas and reminiscing over the most perfect proposal.
