Wedding Party

Brittany

Matron of Honor

Brittany and I met freshman year of college when we were both dating baseball players — and somehow, we’re the only relationship from that season that lasted. What started there turned into one of the steadiest, most grounding friendships in my life. She has truly seen and heard it all with me… and still chooses to love me anyway. Britt is married to her high school crush, is a mom of two, and is a licensed educational psychologist — which means she’s professionally qualified to deal with me. I’ve absolutely used that to my advantage. She lives in California on an avocado and citrus grove, and she is genuinely the calm in my chaos. Britt loves a good Facebook Marketplace hunt, takes her role as a chicken mom very seriously, and is doing her best to keep up with her Spanish while sending her kids to a Spanish immersion school. Friendship Highlight: When I had a flight credit to burn and she happened to be headed to the DR for a family trip, Britt casually told me to meet her there because “they don’t really check.” Against all odds… I did. And somehow stayed the entire week.

Amy

Bridesmaid

Amy and I met in high school. She’s a few years younger than me, but I was in the same grade as her sibling, so I was always at their house — usually showing her how to put on makeup (which is hilarious now because Amy is an absolute wizard with makeup). People constantly think we look alike: flight attendants, TSA, and even her own dad have gotten us confused. Unfortunately for Amy, on occasion I’ve been known to not correct people but instead answer the question as if I’m Amy. Amy is a flight attendant for Southwest and an ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) instructor — which she completed at seven months pregnant because that’s just who she is. She’s married with two kids, lives in ABQ, and has the most creative style. I’m so thankful she encouraged me to apply at Southwest and that she pulled strings to get me into her crash pad. I cherish the season we lived minutes away from each other and could drop in anytime. Friendship Highlight: After a longer relationship ended, Amy told me she had known he wasn’t the one ever since our camping trip to the ranch — when we came across a rattlesnake and he thought I couldn’t hit it with my revolver but Amy knew I could. Amy was right on both counts.

Amber

Bridesmaid

Amber and I met because of a random flight attendant (who I’ve still never met!) posted in a Facebook group that her friend was moving to Albuquerque and to reach out if you needed a new hair gal. I got a lot more than a hair gal! Amber has a special way of loving people well, especially my mom, and she’s walked with me through some really crazy seasons. She’s the best hairstylist in the state, married, has a sweet little girl, and is about to welcome her second baby girl any day now! Even in one of the busiest seasons of life, she somehow makes everyone around her feel seen, thought of, and deeply cared for. Friendship Highlight: Amber and friends threw me a 90’s country engagement party. Amber and her husband showed up as Brooks & Dunn.

Katie

Bridesmaid

Katie and I met while I was working at Hope Christian and she was a student (scandalous — she hates when I tell that story). It took years for her to evolve from calling me Ms. Davis to Ms. Chelsea Davis… and finally just Chelsea. She mostly liked coming to my office to skip class, and honestly, I can’t blame her. Katie has always been wise beyond her years — truly the little sister I never had. She’s now living her best 20-something life in Boston as a flight attendant for American Airlines, taking long international layovers whenever she feels up to going into work. She’s hilarious, the life of the party, and somehow also one of the most thoughtful people I know. When I was deep in grief, Katie flew in just to cook, clean, and help pick me up off the floor. I’m constantly blown away by her friendship. Friendship Highlight: After graduating college early and diving headfirst into social services (tasked with way too many cases), Katie sprained her wrist when a drunk client fell on top of her — and I flew to Phoenix to spend her very first PTO days together.

Duda

Bridesmaid

Duda and I met in flight attendant training, where she basically carried me to graduation. A former Emirates flight attendant who had been living in Dubai, this was not her first rodeo. Originally from Brazil, she’s now married with two kids and living in Houston attending many actual rodeos. Effortlessly chic and somehow able to get away with saying anything because of her accent, Duda is grounding, encouraging, and steady. During my dating years, she constantly sent me reminders not to settle and that God had a plan. She’s always down for a trip and somehow handles new seasons of life with ease. Friendship Highlight: When she whisked me away to Mexico for my Covid birthday and planned every single detail. All I had to say was that I needed her — and needed to get away.

Molly

Bridesmaid

Molly and I met freshman year of college on the basketball team. She was cool and mysterious, usually spending her weekends back home in LA. Molly has always been wildly ambitious and hardworking. While most of us were working as beer cart girls after college, Molly moved to Boston and started building a career in the hotel industry. Boston quickly became my favorite city thanks to my frequent visits to see her. She plans the most intentional, thoughtful itineraries — the kind that lead to once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Think: spontaneous bus tickets to NYC for a ballroom dancing class. She has a way of expanding my world and making life feel bigger. She’s now married to her 6’9” Aussie husband who calls her princess, has three little boys, and after getting married in Canada and moving to Australia, they’re back in the States living in Philly. Molly now leads U.S. business development for a company providing scientific computing services to biotech and pharmaceutical companies — because of course she does. Friendship Highlight: I once accidentally booked a three-week trip to visit Molly in Boston. The trip was intentional, the duration was not. We moved her into a new apartment, the seasons changed, and I’m pretty sure she got a promotion — all while I was there. She later told me she thought it was hilarious that it never even occurred to me to change my flight once I realized how long I’d be there.

Ashley

Bridesmaid

Ashley and I met at the crash pad, where instant friendship was formed between late night talks and early morning flights. She lives in Charlotte and works as a flight attendant for Southwest. I absolutely love Ashley’s big ol’ brain. She’s wildly artistic, incredibly quick-witted, and sharp in the best way. Whether you need to be hyped up or talked off a ledge, Ashley makes time to be there. We’ve traveled to many countries together, and she’s the kind of friend who makes every place more fun just by being there. She’s the only person I know who can be absolutely raging on the dance floor without needing a single drink. On her days off, you’ll find her antiquing, baking pastries, or reading as many books as humanly possible. Friendship Highlight: Meeting Post Malone in Paris — Ashley spotted him first, worked her magic, and next thing you know we’re leaving lipstick marks on his hat. At least that’s how the story goes.

Megan

Bridesmaid

Megan and I met at the crash pad, and she has been easy to be around from day one. Megan lives in New Orleans and works as a flight attendant for Southwest. We quickly discovered we have a knack for traveling together and have made our way through Barcelona, Greece, Portugal, London, Paris, the New Mexico Balloon Fiesta, Frankfurt, and soon Dublin. Megan is creative and cool in the most unassuming way. She can pick up any hobby she sets her mind to — she has her motorcycle license, is a talented woodworker, and recently made my favorite journal. Traveling with her just makes the world feel bigger and lighter. Friendship Highlight: Flying standby to Greece on a completely full flight, we were convinced Megan wasn’t getting on. A group of seven guys headed to a bachelor party in matching flamingo-print onesies were ahead of her — until one got denied boarding for his passport expiration. I was already seated when I saw Megan sprinting toward me while the confused flamingo group tried to process what had just happened. We were all in tears — just for different reasons. In the end, Greece chose Megan. And when we landed, Immigration chose the flamingos.
