From Classmates to Lovers

Who would have known that a few seats over from each other in freshman computer class would lead to our slice of forever, together…

Chelsea is beautiful. Those were the words Cameron (Cam) used to describe Chelsea as they sat a few seats over from each other in their freshman computer class at Hightower HS. He eventually gathered the courage to ask Chelsea for her phone number to which she was hesitant but intrigued. This cordial relationship spun pleasant chats in the hallways and a “hey” from time to time. Nothing came of those chance meetings…at least not yet! As the bell rang for classes to pass, so did the years. It was at Cam's junior year Spring football game that he spotted Chelsea again. She was still beautiful, kind, and in close proximity. She was a member of the Canes’ training program while Cam was a standout on the D-line. (You can catch them cheering at the Dallas Cowboys’ game to this day) Being that they were acquainted, it didn’t take much for Cam to muster the courage, yet again, to ask his future bride’s friend for Chelsea’s phone number. Chelsea being Chel, said, “he must ask for it himself.” Cam took his shot to which Chelsea said, “yes.” The blissful days of Summer were just what the couple so vividly remember. There were car rides, movie dates, and a good convo in the driveway of their parents’ home just before curfew. They walked back into Hightower as seniors and a couple. There was homecoming, prom, and graduation to which they celebrated, together. College took them both North of Missouri City. Chel to SFA (Go Lumberjacks), and Cam to Grandview University in Iowa. However, distance did what it was supposed to do; it made the heart grow fonder. Cam returned to Texas; this time to UTSA (Go Roadrunners). Even though there was distance, they remembered the Summer prior to their senior year, and the relationship blossomed. It was God’s plan that they both would graduate from college on the same weekend. And yes, they made each other’s ceremonies. Young and in love, they moved in together. It was a time of growth and maturity. A time to make sacrifices for the other person’s well being, and a time of young and in love hardships. They loved each other enough to walk away…briefly. The silence grew loud during Covid. It is amazing how the world shutting down can turn your heart back up. Chelsea and Cam made a valiant effort to reconnect during this time. They talked about the future, their individual hopes and dreams, and what a life would be like, together. Cam proposed to Chelsea on September 9, 2023 in front of family and friends at a beach house in the Galveston area. Cam said, “Chelsea is nurturing, she’s caring, she’s good company, and she looks out for me.” Chelsea said, “Cameron is calming, passionate, independent, and devoted.” Together they will say, I do, to you, forever.
