Our Wedding Venue

Country Acres is a wedding and event destination located 20 minutes east of Regina off the Trans-Canada Highway, near McLean, SK. Our 20 acre farm yard is nestled in a natural bluff of Poplar, Willow, Saskatoon and Chokecherry trees. A meandering creek runs through the woods, where wild roses, wild flowers and cattails make their home. Large expanses of lawn, flower gardens, antiques, barn-board farm buildings, and antique cars, trucks and farm machinery of days-gone-by provide a stunning country setting. This secluded country oasis has been referred to by guests as "a hidden gem" in Saskatchewan. Country Acres Website: https://www.countryacres.ca/

How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Alex and Chelsea met in the fall of 2012 at the University of Regina. They shared three classes together (chemistry, math and physics). Although they’d never met, Chelsea caught Alex’s eye quickly. After some passes in the hallway and brief conversations in physics, Chelsea reached out to Alex via Facebook. She gave him her phone number and suggested they hang out. Sure enough, within a few weeks, Alex and Chelsea were spending time both at the university together (studying until the lights turned off or security guards asked them to leave) and outside the university (with their first date being a trip to the movies (Life of Pi) and dinner). They made it official (dating wise) in December of 2012. Throughout university they grew closer and made mutual friends. Alex worked as a line cook at Moxies and then eventually a technician at Jump.ca. Chelsea worked as a lifeguard and also taught private swimming lessons. They each had work terms over summers and were even able to convocate on the exact same day in 2017! The year after convocation was difficult work wise. Chelsea took jobs away from home and for a short period of time, Alex did too. But by the spring of 2018, Alex and Chelsea had both found permanent work at home, in Regina. They were able to move into a cute apartment in the middle of Regina (on the D as Nicole - Chelsea’s sister would say). They went on their first vacations together - to the Dominican Republic and New York. After a year and a half in their apartment they were ready for a bigger commitment - a house. In March of 2019, Alex and Chelsea bought their first home and made it so. Chelsea grew a garden and Alex grew his golf collection. On December 25, 2019, Alex proposed at the same location they confirmed their first date (a University of Regina parking lot). The proposal involved a customized memory book. Through the pandemic, Alex and Chelsea added a dog to their family - Stella, a loving, spunky and very fluffy Australian shepherd.
