Adam and I met at Blackburn college when I was a junior in high school. Before meeting Adam, I truly thought I wasn't going to like him. After saying our first awkward 'hello's,' we sat around and watched a movie with the friend who had introduced us. I didnt have anywhere to sit, so I ended up sitting on my friend's lap and laying my legs across Adam's lap. He was being so sweet and he started rubbing my legs-- when I became INSTANTLY MORTIFIED. I hadn't shaved in a good month and he was RUBBING my WOOLLY legs! He never said a thing about them being hairy! 🤣 So how bad could he be?
Adam took me on a date to our favorite place-- the movies! We drove to Edwardsville to our favorite theater and saw an awesome movie. After the movie was over Adam insisted that we go on a night time walk. I kept thinking to myself: "why in the hell would we go walking around the bike trails at night?" But I was up for anything. I followed him down a steep hill-- I had to slide on my butt to get down to the path-- but finally we started walking the dark path ahead. Once we walked through a tunnel, we found ourselves on the other side where it seemed like a scene in a horror film. A creepy path surrounded by trees on each side-- owls hooting in the night-- but there we stood. Adam seemed almost nervous-- which is VERY rare. When I hugged him, I could hear his heart fluttering like the wings on a hummingbird. He told me how much I meant to him, how I am a wonderful mother, an amazing person, and how beautiful I am. And he told me that I was the only person for him. ❤ When he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I could have FAINTED. FINALLY! After so many amazing years-- two handsome sons and many memories between us, we were finally engaged!
