We met at a lounge in Bend, OR while celebrating graduation season. The lounge was crowded, so patrons had to squeeze into the booths and could overhear conversations. JP's friend shouted: "You just graduated!", so I had an opportunity to start a conversation with the cute guy behind me. From there, JP and I proceeded to talk, laugh, and joke until we drifted out of the lounge in the early hours of the morning. I am so grateful that the lounge was so busy that night, or I wouldn't have had the chance to meet the love of my life.
She tapped my shoulder and asked, "So I heard you just graduated?" To say I was smitten would be an understatement. We talked the night away til we closed out the bar. After some confusion trying to figure out if she wanted me to ask her on a date, I asked for her number and we agreed on a hike the next weekend. The next week, we had our first date. What was supposed to be a two-hour hike turned into a full-day adventure. From hiking Tumalo Falls to singing our hearts out to the Les Miserables sound track in the car to an impromptu cornhole championship, it was an amazing day that was a sneak peek into our future together - unexpectedly adventurous and incredibly romantic.
