Celebrating a mutual friend's birthday (shout-out to Kyler), Forrest and I met over a fascinating conversation about floating down the Chattahoochee River on air mattresses. The evening continued and we stayed with our separate friend groups. But Forrest was hooked...and I was clueless. After a few months of growing a friendship, I finally accepted his invite to go on a date.
For Christmas, we decided to go on a trip instead of giving gifts. We were going to Utah in February. In the waiting period, we began starting the marriage conversation, but I didn't think much about the timing of the trip. In fact, I had called my dad to warn him of future conversations coming a few hours after Forrest had apparently gone to my parents' house to ask for his blessing. Once again, I was clueless. And unknowingly helping Forrest keep the surprise. 🌻 🌻 🌻 In Utah, after the first day of skiing (which was pretty rough for me – someone who has only ever seen Georgia snow), we were driving back and stopped to look at the stars. Most of you already know my obsession with stars, but now imagine the sky with no city lights!! It was during the star gazing that Forrest got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. The answer was easy.
