A second line is a walking street parade led by the bride and groom, a brass band, and followed along by all the guests! We will celebrate the start of our life together this way. The roots of this tradition began as African-American neighborhood celebrations. Read more here: https://www.neworleans.com/things-to-do/music/history-and-traditions/second-lines/
This is a legitimate worry as the streets in the French Quarter are cobblestone. We'll be providing Cinderollies (https://www.cinderollies.com/) for ladies who need them. You're also welcome to bring a second pair of shoes with you for secondlining.
If you're coming from afar (related to us or not) and have kids under 18 with you - please feel free to bring them! Let us know their ages! Much of our celebration is kid friendly and we will have group activities on site as well as across the street at the hotel. We have a babysitting service to help with the itty bitties too. If you are local (not staying overnight in NOLA) and are related to us - feel free to bring the kids! If you are local (not staying overnight in NOLA) and aren't related to us - let us know if you need babysitting help.
We will be tree nut free and have vegetarian options. If you have other needs, please contact Chelle (gizmosmom1@aol.com).

That said, this is a balanced article written by a local tour guide, and it's worth keeping around during your stay. https://freetoursbyfoot.com/how-safe-is-new-orleans/
I am prohibited from doing this by my mother.
You can wear whatever "jacket and pants" you want, even if they match as in "a suit". But if you wear a tux, you'll be mistaken for the wait staff.
