On the Eve of Thanksgiving in 2018, Nick and Abby didn't know it yet—but their lives would soon be forever changed. However, for one of them, the story began much earlier in life… When Nick was younger, he often attended his cousin Molly's basketball games. One game, he couldn't help but notice a pretty lady on the opposing team. Little did he know--this was Abby. He had a crush but never thought it would lead to anything. Fast forward to 2018, Nick came home for Thanksgiving break and attended a concert with his grandmother on Thanksgiving Eve. After the concert, his cousin Molly, the same one who played against Abby those years ago, texted him to meet at the popular Docksiders Bar in downtown Erie. Having indulged in a few adult beverages at the concert, Nick arrived at the bar and went upstairs to find Molly, who was talking to that pretty lady from the basketball game—Abby. Nick asked Molly if he should talk to her, and she encouraged him. Nick walked over to Abby, tapped her shoulder, and confidently said, "Hey!" Abby looked at him, confused about who this random guy was, and replied, "Hey?" Nick then said, "You know my cousin Molly," to which Abby responded, "Yeah, I know Molly!" In a turn of events, Nick then awkwardly said, "Yeah, cool!" and walked away. To Molly's disappointment, she exclaimed, "What the hell was that?!" Nick replied, "Molly, that's called planting a seed." Little did they know, this would lead to many more encounters and become the foundation of a budding relationship neither of them had been looking for. From early in their relationship, Nick knew Abby was the girl he wanted to marry, even if he didn’t express that directly. He would tell her friends and his family that one day he would marry her, and he even mentioned it to Abby. Whether she believed him or not, he meant it. Finally, the time and resources aligned for Nick to propose to Abby in Austin, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Abby was completely surprised, and it was the happiest moment of Nick's life. He was overjoyed to be able to give her the ring of her dreams, with their loved ones all around. It was a day and weekend that Nick & Abby will always cherish.
