Our Story

Our story is nothing near what either of us expected in life. On our first date we both said that we were NOT looking for a relationship, and we did not even want to think about getting married for years. I moved to Orlando for a short three month summer internship and Chris had just graduated from UCF when we met. We were both in the midst of making many future plans and decided that we would be friends for the summer while I was living in Orlando. We thought that there would be no way we would ever be more because we were both moving forward with big things in our life at the moment. God had other plans for us that were beautiful and amazing, and we just didn’t know it yet. Throughout the summer we met, we quickly became close. We started to hang out almost everyday, and started to realize just how much we meant to each other. After two months of being adamant that we would only be friends, we couldn’t deny the fact that we were falling in love. It made no sense to fall in love when I was about to move home and Chris was about to start a new post grad journey not knowing where he would end up, but God placed us together for a reason. We decided that we would try a long distance relationship when I would move back home and as Chris started his post-grad plans. At the end of the summer, we both knew that our goodbye would not be permanent. We flew back and forth to Birmingham and Orlando constantly to soak up every moment that we could spend together. After a year of growing in our long distance relationship, Chris moved to Birmingham for graduate school at UAB. We were able to grow even closer, and realized just how much we loved each other. We quickly fell in love over the summer that we met, and we have continued to fall deeper in love with each other as time has passed. Right before Chris proposed, we faced a big challenge of deciding our future paths and figuring out how to align them. I was applying to get my MFA in Dance and Chris was applying to Medical School. After months of long talks, so much research on schools, countless applications, and so many prayers, we both got accepted into some of the only programs that would place us together. We both got into schools an hour away from each other in Virginia. God has orchestrated every step of our relationship in a beautiful way showing us that He is the one in control, we just have to trust him. After a summer we did not expect, a year of long distance, months of getting to both be in the same city, growing together, learning to strive for a God centered relationship, Chris proposed. From the very start of this relationship, we have been best friends. Our relationship did not start in a way that either of us could imagine, but looking back, we know that we found each other because God crossed our paths so that we would become husband and wife one day. Seeing all of the unexpected twists and turns from day one of our relationship, we can not wait to see what God has in store for us as Husband and Wife once we are married!
