The first time I saw Tek was nine years ago in the library whilst attending a society committee meeting which I joined by chance - I nearly didn’t apply for the position but fate had other plans. We politely acknowledged each other and exchanged a smile, both unaware of the beautiful journey that was to come. By the time second year started in full swing, our conversations were limited to the committee group chats and the occasional in-person small talk. This was until Tek made a sly comment on the group chat about my ‘lovely’ profile picture which I then shyly replied to him privately. That conversation easily carried on the whole day and everyday as we found out we had so much in common. He captivated me with his infectious smile, kindness and intelligence and talking to him easily became the highlight of my day. Everytime we saw each other through the random corridor meets on the way to lectures, I felt all the butterflies! After two months of talking everyday, it was pretty obvious that we had a connection so Tek asked me out on a date! I was initially so excited for the date but on the day I noticed we weren’t able to speak much as he had a lot of deadlines and then decided to postpone the date. That same evening as I wallowed in the thought that maybe it wasn’t meant to be, he messaged me to look outside my window and there he was standing right in front of my house holding flowers. We went on the most romantic walk in the University Park garden. The sun had just set, lights were reflecting on the lake and all I could think of the whole time was how blessed I was to have found my soulmate.
Proposing to Gina over a surprise dinner was a blend of excitement, nerves, and love. As the evening unfolded, I felt a surge of anticipation, I was about to ask the most important question of my life. The romantic setting with roses, balloons and 'MARRY ME' lights heightened my emotions, making the moment feel even more special. I was eager to see her reaction, this day would remain in memory forever with the most heartfelt proposal. My heart pounded as I thought about the future I wanted to share with Gina. I felt a deep sense of love and commitment, ready to take this significant step together. The vulnerability of the moment left me shaking with nerves, but the thought of her smile and happiness gave me courage. I was so grateful for the time we've spent together and excited about the journey ahead. As I presented the ring, feelings were intensified. The combination of the surprise dinner, birthday celebrations, and the proposal created an emotional crescendo. Her soft but joyful 'Yes' brought overwhelming joy, confirming my belief that this was the perfect moment and the best decision. The evening became a cherished memory, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
