Bonfire At The Continental Fire Co. 408 E Montezuma Ave, Houghton, MI 49931
As much as we’d love to be able to have everyone stand by our side to witness our marriage, the top of Brockway Mountain has limited space and parking. In addition to limited space, we also want to be mindful of any tourists who have traveled to the top of the mountain to enjoy the views. We hope you understand why we must limit it to family and the closest of friends. But we look forward to the grand celebration with everyone for the reception!
At the top of Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor, MI (1 hour away from Houghton, MI). Brockway Mountain Drive is the paved road that will take you to the top of the mountain. GPS can help you get there. Once at the top, you can park and we will be gathered up top!
Before Tim and I were even dating, we did our first camp trip together with a group of friends in Copper Habor. This trip is where our relationship first began to blossom, and the special place in our hearts for Brockway Mountain (and each other) began to form. Copper Harbor represents our first camp trip, bonfire, pictures, and hikes together. The first of many memories to be made! Brockway Mountain (located in Copper Harbor) is where Tim first taught me to mountain bike, and we’ve since returned for more camp trips year after year. We love the scenic views from the top of the mountain, overlooking Lake Superior, and know a backdrop of the beautiful Michigan leaves changing will be a splendid place to say “I do”
Once we knew we wanted a ceremony on Brockway Mountain, we began our hunt for a reception space. We explored options in Copper Harbor, but ultimately decided that Houghton would not only have more things for guests to do, but also have a space for a group as fun as ours! Additionally, Houghton is where Tim spent his Michigan Tech college years at and it holds a special place in his heart. Tim and I have visited Houghton a few times over the last couple of years, and from him showing me one of the most special places to him, it quickly became one of the most special places to me too!
Semi-formal wedding attire. For those coming to the ceremony, low rise shoes or flat shoes are recommended. The top of the mountain is fairly flat, and there’s not a hike or anything to get to our spot. But there is some gravel to be mindful of. See the “Proposal Photos” tab and the very last picture shows the spot we plan to have the ceremony. You can see the gravel there
Outdoors.
Indoors.
1 hour - We recommend carpooling if possible!
No. You can drive right up the mountain, park, and then our alter will be set up a few steps away. The mountain top is mostly level but be mindful of loose gravel areas. See the “Proposal Photos” tab and the very last picture will show the gravel/surfaces you could expect
If rain is expected, the show must go on! Because after all, we’re there to get married! :) We will bring some umbrellas to distribute but guests will be encouraged to bring an umbrella if rain is expected. Ceremony guests will be able to decide if they’d like to brave the rain for our quick ceremony, or stay in Houghton. All that matters at the end of the day is Tim and I leave that mountain married, rain or shine! :)
