Kristen and Chaz met while attending Texas Tech University. They had known of each other through mutual friends, but their paths didn't cross until they both switched to the same major halfway through their junior year. Being the only upperclassmen in prerequisite courses, they instantly gravitated to each other. After several *long* months of flirting in class and casual run-ins on the weekends, Chaz finally built up enough courage to ask Kristen out to his fraternity's annual concert. From that point forward, their bond grew stronger over their mutual love for live music, skiing, cajun food, spicy margaritas, and most of all, enjoying quality time with family and friends! Fast forward through 7 years of memories, graduations, new jobs, and new cities (5 of which were spent long distance as Kristen worked in Austin and Chaz attended UT Health School of Dentistry in San Antonio). I think it's safe to say they are a living testament to the saying, "absence makes the heart grow fonder."
Chaz's original plan was to propose while vacationing in Mexico. After a hunch that Kristen had caught on to his intentions, he decided to change plans last minute and pop the question during a planned trip to Fredericksburg with friends. What Chaz hadn't planned was Kristen getting the stomach flu the day before. Realizing she is still sick the morning of, he frantically panicked and nearly called off the proposal, but somehow ended up charming her to go to Becker Vineyards for "just a few hours." While at the vineyard on a private tour, he walked Kristen to the lavender fields and got down on one knee, completely surprising her! To make it even more special, both of their families were hiding nearby ready to celebrate. If you want to instantly cure the love of your life of the stomach flu, ask them to spend forever with you. It certainly did the trick for Kristen!
