Once upon a time in 2008… Dan moved to California to chase his college football dreams, and Gabby was just starting her career as a personal trainer—focused, ambitious, and not interested in distractions (or dare we say, Dan-stractions). He first spotted her at LA Fitness in Cerritos, walking in like he owned the place but he was just recently hired. She thought he was a little arrogant, but he was completely smitten. After a month of zero communication, Gabby finally broke the ice with a compliment on his cologne. Numbers were exchanged, dinner followed, and a fairy tale began. They dated for about a year, but life pulled them apart when Dan had to suddenly move back to Montana. Seven years later, fate brought them back together—and this time, they weren’t letting go ♥️

After reconnecting in 2016, Dan and Gabby dove headfirst into their trail running era. One July day in 2017, they ran to Cracker Lake in Glacier National Park—a 12-mile round trip deep in grizzly country. After the run, Dan officially asked Gabby to be his girlfriend. It was sweet, simple, and perfect. From then on, that trail became their annual “anniversary run.” Fast forward to September 1st, 2024. Even though it was later in the season, Dan was insistent they run Cracker Lake together. They drove out early, and when they arrived, the lake was a stunning turquoise, the sun spilling over the mountains. Gabby noticed Dan getting nervous as they stood on the shore. Then, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, sharing a heartfelt speech about how much he loves her. Shocked and overjoyed, she said yes. They ran back to the truck, sped into town, and celebrated by watching the last Harry Potter film in theaters—capping a weeklong Harry Potter marathon and marking the start of their next great adventure together 💍✨
