Andrea and I met in November of 2021 at Jessica Banks' birthday party in Nashville, TN. There are two key people that made certain we’d connect with one another, (shoutout Kate Arenson & Mike Weinberg). This is a great opportunity to remark that they should know just exactly how grateful we are for their friendly intervention, and even more-so for their continued friendships. A little spark of energy amongst friends turned into something spontaneously wonderful & now we gather to celebrate in CDMX next Spring! The finer details of our love story are quite inconsequential, besides, where would we even begin? It was typical. Hot summers in Nashville. Lessons in romancing a sophisticated Latin woman. In the springtime, we’d make picanha and chicharrones in Atlanta con la familia P. Luche (los Chaves). So it goes. It was simply a tale as old as time itself. Strong-willed, Costa Rican professional meets some lanky Yankee from a state shaped like a mitten. 3,700 miles of geography traversed over time only to arrive at a chilly night in Tennessee. Which, as the story goes, then led to roughly 8 straight hours of more or less uninterrupted, wildly stimulating conversation between my future bride and I. Anyhow, we haven’t stopped chatting since. What a treasure it is to discover your new best friend while simultaneously falling in love with her. So it goes. As the first year of our story was frequently busy with our professional realities, we relied upon the modern day equivalent of the love letter: iMessage. Text banter, in many instances, can be a strong indicator of getting along with someone in the real world; most readers know exactly what this looks like from personal experience. Texting gets you by, of course, but for true communication to occur, humans must gather to discuss. For us, that meant we’d simply send each other a reminder for the subject & the following phrase: ojo a ojo (which translates to eye to eye for you non Spanish speaking folks). Without fail, we’d reconnect, decompress from whatever the day had thrown our way, and converse ojo a ojo. This was actually where I learned to properly ‘spill tea’ as well, but that’s not timely. All sorts of moments were shared ojo a ojo; that’s how this life goes. I’d like to remind anyone kind enough still reading that it’s this culmination of those really, really good moments, ojo a ojo, that brings me to my reminder: I wish to extend a very small part of our world into yours. Ojo a ojo <> CDMX 2025 Let this small contribution to the digital fossil record of the future serve as a formal reminder for all of us to gather in celebration next Spring. We are so delighted to come together & look forward to sharing moments ojo a ojo with everyone at our wedding! Cheers, Pat
